Assunto: Bilateral visa waiver agreement between Australia and Portugal
Can you please confirm if there is a bilateral visa waiver agreement between Australia and Portugal that is current, for Australian citizens and passport holders.
If so, please provide a copy of it, and please explain the rules and regulations for Australian citizens.
Please confirm if this can be used as additional time to the Schengen 90 out of 180 days visa.

Thank you for your e-mail.
Regarding your query , there is no formal bilateral visa waiver agreement between Australia and Portugal. The Schengen Agreement overrides the Portuguese Bilateral Agreement with Australia. If you intend to travel to Portugal and stay more than 90 days within the Schengen area, you can only try to extend your visa with the Department of Immigration in the last country of your visit prior to your 90th day but we cannot guarantee the acceptance of this extension.
Hoping that the above information may be useful, this Embassy will continue at your disposal for all that we can possibly help.
